# How to Unstake Your KSM From Pool Staking

You must wait \~7 days AFTER completing the unstaking transaction before you can redeem your KSM tokens. This period is set by the Kusama Asset Hub blockchain parameters and is not something set by Nova Wallet.

KSM which is undergoing the unstaking process does NOT earn any staking rewards.

When you stake tokens on Kusama Asset Hub, you agree to have your tokens "locked" in staking for 7 days.

When you wish to unstake your tokens, you must wait for the entire duration of the Unstaking/Unboding Period to expire before you can redeem your tokens.

### Step 1: Unstaking Process

1. Open the Nova Wallet application.
2. `Select` the **Staking** **screen**.
3. `Select` your staking position, in this case, would be **Kusama** **KSM**.
4. From the **Kusama** **pool** **staking** **screen**, `select` **Unstake**.
5. `Input` the amount of KSM tokens that you wish to unstake and then `select` **Continue**.
6. Review all the contextual information including any associated fees and `select` **Confirm**.

**You have now started the 7-day unstaking process. You must wait 7 days before you can redeem your KSM tokens.**

**You are able to cancel the unstaking process at any time from the Kusama staking screen.**

### Step 2: Redemption Process

1. Open the Nova Wallet application.
2. `Select` the **Staking** **screen**.
3. `Select` your staking position, in this case, would be **Kusama** **KSM**.
4. From the **Kusama** **pool** **staking** **screen** `select` **Redeem**.
5. Review all of the contextual information including any associated fees and `select` **Confirm**.

You will now receive the amount of KSM that you previously chose to unstake.
