How to connect Ledger Nano X via Bluetooth

Before you connect your Nano X to Nova Wallet, please check the following:

1. Make sure that you have the latest version of Nova Wallet installed on your phone.

2. Ensure that the latest firmware is installed on your Ledger Nano X. If not, please update it as described in this Ledger guide: https://support.ledger.com/article/360013349800-zd.

3. Close any other apps that can connect to Ledger, like Ledger Live or wallet apps.

4. If your phone runs on Android 11 or earlier, check in your system Settings if Nova Wallet is allowed to access your location.

5. Enable Bluetooth on your phone in your system settings.

6. Enable Bluetooth on your Nano X. Hold both buttons to access the Control Center and navigate to Bluetooth using the right button. If it's not enabled, press both buttons to enable it, then close Control Center.

The following steps include actions you must perform on both your Ledger Nano X and your Nova Wallet Device.

Actions for each device are clearly labelled below.

1. Open the Nova Wallet application and Select Already have a wallet (Nova Wallet Device).

2. Select Hardware wallet and then Select Ledger Nano X (Nova Wallet Device).

3. Read the on-screen prompt and Select Continue (Nova Wallet Device).

4. If requested, allow Nova Wallet access to finding nearby devices and enabling Bluetooth. On Android 11 or earlier, please also allow access to your location. Nova Wallet doesn't use your location information, but this permission is required for any app to be able to access Bluetooth devices (Nova Wallet Device).

5. Hold both buttons to turn on your Ledger Nano X. Input your PIN code to unlock it (Ledger Nano X).

6. Start the relevant application (Ledger Nano X). For example, if you want to add your Polkadot Ledger account to Nova Wallet, start the Polkadot application on your Ledger Nano X.

7. Once your Nano X display states [Network] Ready (Ledger Nano X), select your Ledger Device on your Nova Wallet Device.

8. If you're connecting your Ledger to your phone for the first time, both in Nova Wallet and on your Ledger Nano X screen, you will see a pairing code. Compare the codes and make sure they match on both devices.

9. Select Pair in Nova Wallet.

10. Press both buttonsto confirm pairing (Ledger Nano X).

11. Select your account from the list on your Nova Wallet Device. (Note: if you cannot see your balance/account, try pressing Load more accounts.)

12. Read the on-screen prompt and review & approve the operation appearing on your Ledger Nano X. The address appearing on your Ledger should match the one shown in Nova Wallet.

13. Select More networks to add to Nova Wallet if desired, otherwise Select Done (Nova Wallet Device).

14. Input a nickname for your account (Nova Wallet Device).

How to connect Ledger Nano X via USB (Android-only)

Ledger Nano X can also be connected to your phone using a USB cable. Please note that only Android phones support connecting devices via USB, but not iPhones.

To connect your Ledger to Nova Wallet on Android via USB, follow these steps:

1. Make sure to use an OTG cable to connect. Depending on what ports your phone has, you can use the original Ledger cable that came with your Ledger device or another OTG cable, but not a simple charging cable.

2. Plug one end of the OTG cable into your Ledger USB port and another into your phone's USB port.

3. Open the Nova Wallet application and Select Already have a wallet (Nova Wallet Device).

4. Select Hardware wallet and then Select Ledger Nano X (Nova Wallet Device).

5. Read the on-screen prompt and Select Continue (Nova Wallet Device).

6. Hold both buttons to turn on your Ledger Nano X. Input your PIN code to unlock it. (Ledger Nano X).

7. Start the relevant application (Ledger Nano X). For example, if you want to add your Polkadot Ledger account to Nova Wallet, start the Polkadot application on your Ledger Nano X.

8. Once your Nano X display states [Network] Ready (Ledger Nano X), select your Ledger Device on your Nova Wallet Device.
